Buyer's guide

Where to buy waterproof LVP flooring in Florida — the four options, honestly compared

In Florida you can buy waterproof LVP from four kinds of sellers: big-box stores, local flooring showrooms, national online retailers, or online sellers with Florida stock like Container Direct LVP that deliver statewide. None of them is wrong. The right one depends on three things — whether you need to touch the floor before you buy, how fast you need it on the ground, and how much of somebody else’s overhead you are willing to pay for.

Option 1 — Big-box stores (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Floor & Decor)

What you get: the most colors on a shelf in one place, and you can walk out with boxes today.

What you don’t: most in-stock lines are 5–6mm with a 12–20 mil wear layer. The thicker, longer planks are special-order. Delivery is a flat fee, and you are usually loading it yourself.

Best for: a single small room, or when you need it this afternoon.

Option 2 — Local flooring showroom

What you get: you stand on the sample, a salesperson who knows the product, and installation often bundled in.

What you don’t: the showroom’s rent, lighting and sales floor are in your price. Selection is whatever the owner chose to stock.

Best for: anyone who will not buy a floor they have not touched, and wants one phone number for supply and install.

Option 3 — National online retailers

What you get: enormous selection, every brand, reviews from thousands of buyers.

What you don’t: the pallet ships from a warehouse in another state. Freight is real money on a 1,000-lb order, samples take days, and if a box arrives damaged you are dealing with a call center.

Best for: a specific brand or color nobody in Florida stocks.

Option 4 — Online with Florida stock (what we do)

What you get: we source through distribution partners whose stock sits in Florida warehouses — Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando. Per-square-foot and per-box prices are published, and there is no showroom, so no showroom rent in the price. You preview any floor in a photo of your own room with the visualizer, samples ship to your door, and the order goes curbside anywhere in the state.

What you don’t: a store to walk into. If you need to stand on the floor before you decide, order samples — that is what they are for.

Best for: whole-house jobs, rentals and flips, contractors buying by the pallet, and anyone who would rather see the floor in their own room than under showroom lights. Reviews and guarantees are here.

What “waterproof” has to mean in Florida

Plenty of flooring is sold as waterproof. In a state with 70% humidity, summer storms and sand tracked in from the beach, only some of it earns the word:

Common questions

Is the LVP at Home Depot waterproof?

Most of it is water-resistant to fully waterproof depending on the line; check for a rigid SPC core and read the warranty’s humidity clause before buying for a Florida home.

Can I buy LVP online with stock already in Florida?

Yes. Container Direct LVP sources through distribution partners whose stock sits in Florida warehouses (Jacksonville, Orlando and Miami) and sells to homeowners and contractors, with a flat $300 per pallet for curbside delivery anywhere in Florida.

How much LVP do I need for 1,000 square feet?

About 1,100 sq ft to cover cuts and waste. Use the flooring calculator on cdlvp.com and it will convert that to boxes for whichever collection you pick.

How do I judge the quality of LVP without a brand name I know?

By the specs, not the label. Every line we stock is rigid SPC, 100% waterproof, with the thickness, wear layer and residential and commercial warranty listed on its page. Order samples and compare them side by side with anything else you are considering.
